1. Trends in International Tourism

The number of Japanese tourists increased 1.9% (approx. 310,000) compared with last year; however, a comparison with 2000, the best year on record, shows a decline of 7.3% (approx. 1,300,000). Inbound visitors to Japan rose 9.9%.
