JATA Chairmanfs Declaration Regarding the Recovery Following
the Great East Japan Earthquake

We extend our deepest sympathy and condolences to the families of the people who perished in the Great East Japan earthquake and tsunami and those who have suffered in the disaster and its aftermath.We pray for the earliest possible recovery from this unprecedented tragedy.

We, at the Japan Association of Travel Agents, and all our members, in order to assist the quick recovery from the earthquake and tsunami of March 11, declare that:

1 We will actively communicate the recovery process of Japan both in the country and abroad under the motto gCheer up Japan! Smile up with Travel!h
2 For the recovery, we will do our utmost to promote travel while being mindful of the situation in the local areas of Japan, and at the same time cheer up the local communities through the dynamic gpower of travelh.
3 To express gratitude for the support provided by foreign countries and to show the vitality of Japan, we will promote overseas travel on the Japanese market. We will hold JATA Travel Showcase, the largest travel-industry event in Asia, as scheduled from September 29th to October 2nd 2011, and organize parallel events to assist the recovery of the affected areas.
4 We will strengthen our efforts in the promotion of travel styles for longer summer holidays and encourage taking measures to assist the electricity saving efforts.
Furthermore, we will actively conduct fund-raising drives and volunteer activities to restore tourism destinations damaged in the disaster and to invite children from the affected areas to gCheer up Japan! Smile up with Travel!h tours.
