Mr. Jun Woo-Hyun, Vice Governor of Gyeongsangbuk Province, South Korea, visited Mr. Jungo Kikuma, Vice Chairman of JATA, on February 10th, Monday

During the visit, Mr. Jun Woo-Hyun talked about initiatives which will help recover the tourism and travel exchange between Japan and South Korea. “Due to political frictions and the outbreak of the new Coronavirus, the number of Japanese visitors to the Gyeongsangbuk Province have decreased. We are currently considering a number of initiatives which will help to recover the visitor numbers. We intend to implement stimuli for travel agencies and other measures as soon as the new Coronavirus outbreak is over.”

Mr. Kikuma commented that, in order to speed up recovery, annual events should be postponed instead of canceled.
“South Korea is one of our most important partners. We intend to organize inspection tours for our member companies and run campaigns which include two-way charter programs,” Mr. Kikuma said in reply.
