11月27日(金)、ツーリズム・オーストラリア(オーストラリア政府観光局)の日本局長に就任したデレック・ベインズ氏がJATA志村理事長を訪問され、「両国でのコロナ感染症のマネジメントの結果にもよりますが、観光往来が可能になるタイミングに向けて、いくつかのPR事業を準備しています。また、海外旅行が復活したら、日本国内で『海外旅行は楽しい、海外へ行こう!』といった雰囲気づくりに努めていただきたい」と意見を述べられました。

志村理事長は、「現在日本では、4か国とのビジネスとレジデンストラックが運営されていますが、観光目的の出入国には感染症危険情報レベルの引き下げが必要です。また、オーストラリアで行われている感染防止のための対策や具体的な措置等について、最新の情報を提供し、お客様に安心いただくことで、海外旅行を徐々に再開できると考えます」と応じました。

Mr. Derek Baines, newly appointed Japan Country Manager of Tourism Australia, visited Mr. Tadashi Shimura, President of JATA, on November 27, Friday

During his visit, Mr. Baines said that while the restart of tourism will depend on the COVID-19 infections management, Tourism Australia is getting ready for the moment when tourism exchange is made possible. “We are working on several promotion projects, which will help us to be ready for the resumption of bilateral tourism. Once the borders are open for tourism, we would appreciate a promotional campaign dedicated to creating the mood of expectation and excitement about traveling overseas.”

“Japan has opened business and residence tracks with four countries. However, it is necessary to have the current travel advisory level lowered. In order to make our customers feel safe, we would like to receive detailed, up-to-date information about the measures which are being implemented to keep the infections at bay. This will help them feel safe and we expect it to result in a gradual recovery of the overseas travel,” said Mr. Shimura in reply.
