5月10日(火)、駐日チュニジア特命全権大使モハメッド・エル―ミ閣下がJATA志村理事長を訪問し、チュニジアの現状と旅行市場回復の展望について語りました。
「COVID-19パンデミックによってュニジアの主要産業である観光業は深刻な影響を受けました。観光産業の回復と活性化のためチュニジア政府が早期に国境開放し、現在ヨーロッパから多くの観光客がチュニジアに戻ってきています。新型コロナ感染症の拡大を効果的に抑えているし、安全な渡航先として評価されています。日本からの観光も近い将来に元のレベルに戻ることが期待しています。豊富で多様な観光資源のチュニジアを訪れいただければ幸いです。」

志村理事長は、「チュニジアはアフリカの中でも魅力的な旅行先として日本人旅行者に評価されています。しかし、依然としてコロナの影響、最近の国際情勢などが不透明であるため、日本人は海外旅行を先延ばしにしている傾向が見受けられます。この数ヶ月、日本政府は徐々に国を開放する方向に動いており、旅行会社もパッケージツアーの再開に向けて準備を進めています。9月に開催するツーリズムEXPOジャパンでチュニジアの最新情報を紹介する良い機会になるでしょう。」とコメントしました。

H. E. Mohamed Elloumi, Ambassador of the Republic of Tunisia in Japan, met Mr. Tadashi Shimura, President of JATA, on May 10th, Tuesday

During meeting with Mr. Shimura, H. E. Mr. Elloumi talked about the present situation in Tunisia and perspectives on the travel market recovery.
“Tunisia reopened borders for international travelers to revive tourism activity.
Tourism is one of the main industries in Tunisia, it’s significantly contributes to the country’s economy. Now many tourists from Europe return to Tunisia. The country was rated as the “Covid-safe” destination and we are ready to welcome Japanese visitors. Please come to discover and enjoy plenty of historical, cultural sites, landscapes and cuisine,” said H.E. Mr. Elloumi.

“Tunisia is regarded as an attractive destination in Africa by Japanese travelers.
However, because the international situation and Covid situation in the world still remains uncertain, Japanese public prefer to postpone travelling abroad. Over the few past month Japanese government is slowly moving to open the borders and travel companies is preparing to resume package tours. Tourism EXPO Japan in September, will be a good chance to promote new destinations and sites in Tunisia,” commented Mr. Shimura.
