この度の「東日本大震災」により、被災された皆様に対して改めて心からお見舞いを申し上げます。
PATA日本支部では、PATA本部及び海外メディアへの最新情報の提供に努めると同時に、各国支部からの問い合わせに関する対応にも追われております。
そうした中、PATA本部でもウェブ上に「東日本大震災に関するポータルサイト」を立ち上げ、このサイトを通じて22,000のPATA会員に情報提供を行っています。それと同時に、日本の国際観光を早急に復興させねば、アジア太平洋観光業界全体に悪影響を与えるとの合意の結果、今後、『PATA復興タスクフォース』を立ち上げる事となりました。
また、PATA Foundation (PATA基金)が呼び掛けを行っている「日本救済基金」には、PATAニューヨーク支部、PATAオレンジカウンティ支部などを始め、各支部から募金が寄せられており、最終的な使途については本部との協議を通じて決定する予定です。
その他、震災及び福島原発の影響に関するニュースなども、PATA本部ウェブサイトに随時掲載しています。以下は、国連が日本は安全圏内であると発表したニュースです。(2011年4月18日配信)

UN assures radiation levels in Japan are within safe limit

United Nations organizations ensure that radiation from the Fukushima Daiichi plant do not pose health or transportation risk to passengers and crew that are travelling to and from Japan. The United Nations organisation that are closely monitoring the situation on the Fukushima Daiichi plant include the World Health Organization (WHO), the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), United Nations World tourism Organization (UNWTO), World Meteorological Organization (WMO), International Maritime Organization (IMO), International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), and International Labour Organization (ILO). On March 18, based on the International Nuclear and Radiological Event Scale (INES), the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry assessed the safety significance rating of the accident at the plant as level 5, as reported in eTurbo News. On April 12, the assessment was revised to level 7.

Airports and Seaports in Japan are being monitored for radiation. Reports have shown that levels remain well within the safe limits and therefore do not pose any health risks. Radiation screening at airports and seaports around the world are deemed unnecessary.
